Under an Ultramarine Sky

There are days when continuing is mistaken for triumph. This painting is not about triumph. It is about the quiet and difficult act of carrying what time refuses to take away; the invisible weight of separation, migration, war, longing, grief, and all that we become in the course of surviving. It inhabits the space between collapse and persistence, where one is neither defeated nor victorious, but simply moving through the darkness one breath at a time. There are burdens that do not disappear. They settle upon our bodies like stones, changing our posture, our pace, and the way we inhabit the world. Some are born of distance, some of loss, and some arrive uninvited and remain long after their moment has passed. Yet we continue. Slowly. Imperfectly. Tenderly. Perhaps resilience does not always look like standing. Perhaps sometimes it looks like remaining in motion when stillness would be easier. This work is dedicated to that fragile movement forward, the kind that asks for nothing more than another moment, another breath, another beginning.
