Living Code Canvas
Proof of Work
Proof of Work is a dynamic, interactive digital artwork that pays homage to Bitcoin’s foundational consensus mechanism through a mesmerizing p5.js animation. Rendered as a standalone HTML NFT, this piece captures the essence of Bitcoin’s decentralized ethos with a vibrant, fast-paced visual experience. Centered on a 1000x1000 canvas, the iconic Bitcoin logo—rendered in its signature orange (HSB: 31, 100, 97)—pulses and evolves in response to user interactions, embodying the computational energy of mining. Interactive Mechanics: Orange miners dart across the canvas at high speeds (4–6 pixels per frame). Users can click or tap to add more miners, simulating the addition of computational power to the Bitcoin network.
Upon colliding with the logo’s outline, particles vanish, triggering a cascade of effects: The logo briefly flashes a random color for 1 second, symbolizing the discovery of a valid hash.
A block reward burst (5–10 smaller particles) and a ripple effect ripple outward, mirroring the network’s confirmation of a new block, colored to match the logo’s momentary hue.
The logo grows by 5 pixels per collision, expanding from a base size of 200 pixels to a maximum of 1000 pixels, representing the increasing difficulty of mining.
Once the logo reaches its maximum size, it shrinks back to its original size at 60 pixels per second (~13.3 seconds), simulating the cyclical nature of block discovery. When it returns to 200 pixels, all miners are cleared, resetting the canvas for a fresh cycle—evoking the relentless, iterative nature of proof-of-work mining.
