The Grounding Following the Rift, a massive field of extraterrestrial mycelium appeared and started to dominate much of the land. Many volunteered to study this phenomenon and present a solution to it. Those who had prolonged field exposure began to allow themselves to merge with the mycelium, slowly shedding their bipedal form and transforming into a grove of towering fungi stretching to the horizon. The biggest of these merging events was known as "The Grounding," where over 3 million people collectively decided to merge themselves with the mycelium field, ushering in the emergence of a new species, Cerebrocordyceps Sapiens.
