“Accept the fact that you were born alone, you are alone, and you will die alone.” — Osho
In photographing people in public space, I was not trying to reduce distance. I observed otherness rather than dissolve it — sometimes engaging in conversation, sometimes remaining a silent witness. Even when interaction occurred, I did not stop being an observer.
Photography, for me, is a form of communication with strangers — a way of approaching understanding, both of the other and of myself.
What we call “otherness” is often defined through cultural, social or national differences, but it exists much closer — in everyday encounters with unknown people: at a bus stop, in a waiting room, in a queue.
We are all strangers to one another. And at the same time, each of us remains alone within their own perception of the world
