Midnight Visitors

Midnight Visitor 3

My work delves into the unsettling and enigmatic realm of sleep paralysis, where the boundaries between dream and reality blur, giving rise to shadowy entities that haunt the liminal space of consciousness. Inspired by the visceral, often terrifying experiences of sleep paralysis, my art explores the psychological and emotional weight of these encounters entities that loom, whisper, or oppress in moments of vulnerability. These spectral figures, born from the mind yet perceived as real, serve as a metaphor for the unseen fears and anxieties that linger in our subconscious. Through a fusion of surreal imagery, bold figures, and textured forms, I aim to evoke the disorienting atmosphere of sleep paralysis, the heavy stillness, the suffocating presence, and the eerie familiarity of the unknown. My process incorporates mixed media, digital drawing and digital collage to mirror the fragmented, dreamlike quality of these experiences. Figures emerge from darkness, their forms amorphous yet deliberate, inviting viewers to confront the tension between fear and fascination. This body of work seeks not only to visualize the entities that haunt my sleep paralysis but also to probe deeper questions about perception, fear, and the human psyche. What do these manifestations reveal about our inner worlds? How do we reconcile the intangible with the real? By translating these ephemeral encounters into tangible art, I invite viewers to linger in the discomfort, to explore the beauty within the unsettling, and to reflect on the shadows that reside within us all.
