Praga Bohema (2024)

The Praga Bohema (2024) is a road-legal, track-focused hypercar that marks the Czech manufacturer Praga’s triumphant return to road-car production after a 77-year absence. Introduced in November 2022 and entering production in 2023, the Bohema is a limited-run supercar (89 units total) designed to blend GT3-level track performance with practical road usability, targeting discerning collectors and skilled drivers. Hand-built in Orechová Potôň, Slovakia, it features a carbon-fiber monocoque and body, achieving a featherweight 982 kg (2,165 lbs) curb weight—half that of many modern hypercars. Powered by a 3.8L twin-turbo V6 (a modified Nissan VR38DETT by Litchfield Engineering), the Bohema delivers 700 hp at 6,800 rpm and 725 N⋅m of torque, paired with a 6-speed Hewland sequential manual transmission and a titanium exhaust. It achieves 0-100 km/h in 2.3 seconds, a top speed of 317 km/h (197 mph), and generates 900 kg of downforce at 250 km/h, enabling theoretical upside-down driving at high speeds. The car’s advanced aerodynamics, refined in an F1 wind tunnel, and its lightweight construction allow it to rival GT3 race cars on road-legal Pirelli Trofeo R tires, with compatibility for Michelin slicks for track use. The Bohema’s engineering prioritizes simplicity and performance: adjustable pushrod suspension, 380 mm carbon-ceramic brakes with six-piston calipers, and a low unsprung mass (180 kg) ensure agile handling and 2G cornering. Despite its track focus, it offers road-friendly features like a 65-liter fuel tank, air conditioning, excellent visibility via a curved windscreen, and storage bins in the rear wheel arches for race gear or luggage. The cockpit, weighing just 34 kg, seats two adults up to 2 meters tall, with Alcantara/leather upholstery, a removable steering wheel, and a minimalist center console with launch control and parking brake. Designed by Juraj Mitro and developed with input from F1 driver Romain Grosjean, the Bohema balances raw performance with bespoke craftsmanship. Each car is hand-painted with customizable finishes, such as bare carbon or gold leaf, and production is capped at fewer than 20 units annually to ensure exclusivity. Priced at €1.36 million ($1.5M USD) plus taxes, it competes with hypercars like the Pagani Huayra or Aston Martin Valkyrie but stands out for its lightweight ethos and Czech heritage. Tested at circuits like Spa-Francorchamps, Nürburgring, and the Slovakia Ring, the Bohema has been praised for its “astonishing” track performance and surprising road compliance, making it a unique proposition for collectors who can exploit its capabilities.
