Airdrie Aurora
Driving across the north end of Calgary, I caught movement in the distant north-eastern sky, aurora. Engulfed in city lights, I was at least thirty minutes from darker skies. I floored it, the drive feeling endless, until luck appeared in the form of an open gate to a freshly harvested wheat field. Switching to 4x4, I followed the tractor paths until the horizon cleared, then set up my gear. The sky came alive. I shot for two hours, and midway through, captured four frames to stitch into a panoramic aurora. To my delight, it worked. Moon-lit clouds turned pink for a wonderful added touch.
