INOCENCIA URBANA

URBAN INNOCENCE

This work is a vibrant and nostalgic representation of the childhoods of different generations, bringing together iconic figures from different eras on a single stage. It features: Snow White, a classic character from fairy tales and early Disney animated films (released in 1937), representing the childhood of generations who grew up with traditional stories and classic animated films. Pikachu, one of the most recognisable characters in the Pokémon universe, a symbol of the 1990s and 2000s, very present in the childhood of those who grew up with video games, animated series and trading cards. Simba the cub, the protagonist of The Lion King (1994), another fundamental figure in the Disney universe, who had a profound impact on the childhood of those who lived through the 1990s. The black and white urban background, with graffiti-like strokes and touches of yellow, creates a strong contrast with the characters, who are painted in a more colourful and cartoonish style, giving them an air of innocence that stands out even more in the modern urban context. This can be interpreted as a visual metaphor for the contrast between the world of childhood and adulthood or between fantasy and reality. Furthermore, the inclusion of a red heart-shaped balloon, reminiscent of Banksy's work, and the signature “Ettore” suggest a contemporary artistic intention, linking street art with childhood nostalgia. Taken together, this work is a tribute to childhood throughout time, a celebration of the characters that have accompanied and marked entire generations, and a visual reminder of the power these icons have to connect people of different ages and backgrounds through emotional memory. 130x180cm Mixed media on canvas
