Crashing Waves of Passions #1

"Crashing Waves of Passion" is a digital art token born from a deep admiration for three iconic artists: Vincent van Gogh, Suzanne Valadon, and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. The inspiration for this piece traces back to my childhood, having known Vincent's work since I was 12 years old. Meeting the works of Valadon and Toulouse-Lautrec years later only deepened my appreciation for their artistry. Over the course of three years, this piece evolved as I reflected on the immense obstacles these artists overcame in their lives, showcasing a determination and persistence akin to that of Olympic champions. Through this piece, I express that art, unlike sports, doesn't require gold medals to be profound and impactful. Crashing Waves of Passion" utilizes mixed media, incorporating scanned original works in high definition. I employed my imagination and memory, drawing from countless viewings of these artists' masterpieces over the years. Two significant museum exhibitions at the Met and a visit to the Van Gogh Museum enriched my understanding and inspired the creation of this piece. This token includes four distinct images, each meticulously crafted to capture the essence and brilliance of van Gogh, Valadon, and Toulouse-Lautrec. The imagery weaves together elements of their styles and themes, inviting viewers to follow in their creative footsteps and appreciate the boundless potential of human creativity. Through "Crashing Waves of Passion," I aim to highlight the extraordinary creative abilities of these three artists. I want viewers to experience the artistic journey and feel as though they are stepping into 1888, Moulin Rouge frequented by van Gogh, Valadon, and Toulouse-Lautrec. This work has allowed me to articulate thoughts and emotions that I previously could only express through visual art, making it a deeply personal and transformative project. This groundbreaking digital art token is part of a limited edition of only five. Each token holds metadata containing four high-definition works, scanned by the artist. Collectors have the unique opportunity to pin their favorite work as the display on the token, making the experience interactive and personalized. By owning "Crashing Waves of Passion," collectors gain a unique piece that not only represents three years of artistic effort but also serves as a tribute to the brilliance of van Gogh, Valadon, and Toulouse-Lautrec. This token offers an opportunity to engage with the art in an innovative way, allowing the world to experience the wonder of these artists through my eyes. Charles Edelman’s artistic journey began when he moved to New York City at a young age. Immersed in the vibrant art scene, he frequented museums and top galleries, which inspired his passion for large-scale figure compositions. His travels and time living in Europe further enriched his artistic vision. Charles holds an MFA in Fine Art and has taught at Parsons in NY and Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, also participating in Yale’s summer art program. His early influences include Paula Modersohn-Becker, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, and Morris Louis. Throughout his career, Charles has achieved significant milestones, such as exhibiting at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and creating a monumental watercolor in the jungles of Belize. Charles’s work is profoundly influenced by his travels, particularly in South America, where he drew inspiration from traditional weavings. He primarily uses acrylic paint and mixed media, embracing freedom and spontaneity in his creative process, akin to the fluidity of martial arts. His art aims to convey that anything is possible, encouraging viewers to live their dreams with a smile. Charles’s ultimate goal is to present his work to the world, confident that even greats like Valadon, Van Gogh, and Toulouse-Lautrec would appreciate his contributions. A memorable validation came when an artist who had worked with Picasso visited his studio and, after contemplation, remarked that Picasso would have liked Charles’s work. This endorsement fuels his aspiration to have his art recognized and appreciated globally.
