To be present is to inhabit the space between presence and absence, where the weight of what is not said settles like dusk. Through light, monochromatic color and multiple exposure, Nena and I discussed absence as what once was and what is yet to be. The conversation stretched further to include who we are in moments of waiting and in moments of remembering. It recognizes the pulls we experience towards what lies ahead and what was once here.
