Mediterranean—Late Autumn
"Mediterranean—Late Autumn" is an abstract artwork No. 15 from the “Five Seasons” collection, capturing the moment when colour begins to retreat, and the landscape withdraws into itself, yet the earth still remembers warmth.
The composition feels ancient, as though one were looking at a fragment of a Mediterranean landscape whose layers have been compressed by time—coastlines, eroded rock, winding paths, layers of sediment, sun-warmed stone, and ancient architecture.
From afar, through the abstract forms, a tiger ready to pounce emerges. The ancient Greco-Roman world knew of the Caspian tiger and depicted tigers in mosaics and art.
The palette of the artwork consists of ochre, muted yellows, dusty pinks, coral reds, pale blues, greys and deep blacks, forming a dense, multi-layered structure.
The black and grey forms feel like shadows cast across an old landscape, while the delicate linear structures resemble traces left by someone.
