MAGISTERIUM 3001 builds on a series of manipulated image sequences utilised in the original MAGISTERIUM collections, and features the full length (8’44’’) musical work ‘The Mirror and The Sea - Excerpt 3’ (2017) as the mp4 soundtrack; alongside an evolving photoset of images and other media - which will be updated over the lifetime of the collection. Image sequences are derived from source photos originally taken on a visit to the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, Hobart, in February 2019. One of the finest botanical gardens in the southern hemisphere, the exquisite native and exotic flora include three giant sequoias from California, local Mountain Ash trees, and a multitude of eucalypts, conifers and other species - many of which form core images this collection. Music featured in this sequence is a complete version of ‘The Mirror and The Sea - Excerpt 3’ (2017), also by James Gordon Anderson.
