Waves .001

Mori Yuzan's intricate illustrations of wave design were origially utilized as reference manuals by artists of his day, Meiji era Japan (1868-1912). These artisans engraved swords, crafted lacquerware, and adorned various decorative objects. His three-volume series of black-ink illustrations titled ‘Hamonshu’, subtitled ‘Wave Design’ not only served as a valuable source of inspiration but also as a 'how-to' of sorts for the development of my own swirl patterns, ripples, and wave illustrations. ////// Waves .001 (2024) | 4320 x 7680px
