The extraction of the eyes from the unity of the human body serves as a radical metaphor for the erosion of empathy. Philosophically, these detached eyes represent a "disembodied gaze". When we witness the visuals of warfare through a screen, we often see physical destruction, yet the very process of consuming this information reduces humanity to mere pixelated representations. We possess the eyes to see, but we have lost the "brain" to process trauma and the "heart" to mourn grief, transforming us into a cluster of senses that watches the world's destruction without truly feeling it in its entirety.
