ROAD TO MIAMI: PASSAGE OF THE CODEWALKER
About the Project Road to Miami: Passage of the Codewalker
Road to Miami: Passage of the Codewalker is more than a visual piece. It is part of a living body of work that reflects my journey as an artist rebuilding my mind through creation after surviving a traumatic brain injury. Thirteen years ago I lost my ability to walk, speak clearly, write, and understand even simple lines of code. Much of my art still carries this broken language inside it. Shattered text, fragmented symbols, and drifting algorithms appear throughout my pieces because they are the vocabulary of that experience. They are the reminders of what I lost and the proof of what I continue to reclaim. Every new artwork is part of the process of relearning how to communicate and how to build again. For Art Basel Miami I am creating a set of double sided trading cards featuring this artwork so I can hand them out in person to collectors and the community. I want people to hold the work physically, feel the texture, and connect with the story behind it. These cards represent passages between worlds. They show the moment where memory, data, and lived experience collide. They are reminders that even fragments can form something powerful. This open edition is an invitation into that world. It connects the digital portal seen in the images and video with the physical cards that will be shared in Miami. It marks the next step in my ongoing effort to rebuild my creative language and transform my relationship with the code I once lost.
