Overcrowding

Keys and commands Click or tap on the work: a new vortex is born where you touch, and other whirls appear elsewhere. All the matter reassigns itself to the nearest centre and reverses its spin. The rotation changes, the composition stays. Wheel or pinch: zoom up to fourteen times, to step inside the brushstroke and see that every curve is made of rigid objects. Drag: moves the view while you are zoomed in. Double click: back to the full view. What it comes from From Van Gogh’s Starry Night, read not as an image but as a field of forces: the directions of his brushstrokes have been measured, and they become the current that guides the matter. Van Gogh painted a living sky with the paste of colour. Here the same sky is built from the leftovers of the interface, the pieces that pass in front of us every day without our ever looking at them. It is a slow technological dying: the accumulation does not stop, the network keeps filling up, and out of that excess, by density alone, a soft curve forms again. Overcrowding does not destroy the figure, it generates it. Even by removing, even by displacing, the fullness always recomposes itself.
