understand the mindflares

The term 'Mindflares' doesn’t actually exist in this form—which makes it all the more fascinating. It is a compound of 'Mind'—spirit or thought—and 'Flare'—the sudden burst of flame. This combination creates images that lodge themselves in the head, occurring spontaneously and manifesting like flashes of inspiration. These 'thought-flames' are not fleeting phenomena; rather, they burn themselves permanently into memory. The concept for 'Mindflares' evolved organically from the 'Palace and Clouds' series. Hovering above the huts in these images are clouds composed of many individual pixels. On one hand, these pixels allude to the digital Cloud of our time; on the other, they reference a mystical tradition from the 14th century: the text The Cloud of Unknowing by an anonymous monk, which offers a guide to enlightenment. Seen from a distance, the cloud's pixels blur and nearly dissolve—a symbol of the unknown and the unattainable. To date, 'Mindflares' has utilized symbols and icons from the worlds of music and design, as well as universally recognized film scenes. These familiar images are recontextualized, acquiring fresh meaning. The art draws upon our collective visual memory, playing with motifs that appear immediately familiar to every viewer but trigger entirely new associations through their artistic treatment. 'Mindflares' are thus far more than mere depictions; they play with elements both digital and historical, with imagery both everyday and iconic. They invite us to reflect on our own perception and explore the boundaries between reality and imagination—and precisely therein lies their distinct power
