LEGS #2982
LEGS is a collection of 170 unique 1/1 artworks created with my procedural image-generation algorithm. LEGS explores how far the human figure can be simplified while still preserving movement, emotion, and narrative. Our perception needs surprisingly little to recognize a movement, a situation, or the relationship between figures and objects. Even when the body is reduced to basic geometric forms, we instinctively begin to see gestures, interactions, and fragments of familiar scenes. I describe the visual language of the collection as Algorithmic Neo-Geo Assemblage. Geometric divisions, intense colors, varied patterns, grids, and simplified leg-like forms are combined into abstract compositions. Variations in structure, visual density, the number and placement of the legs, and their color relationships allow each output to suggest a different situation. LEGS was created using my procedural image-generation algorithm, built around a set of visual rules that determine the structure and complexity of the grid, its divisions, color palettes, patterns and textures, as well as the number, form, color, and placement of the simplified leg-like figures and geometric elements. Using controlled variation, the algorithm combines these elements to create a wide range of unique compositions. However, the final selection of artworks was made personally by me - it was neither automatic nor random. I reviewed the outputs individually and selected the works in which I could perceive a particular movement, emotion, situation, or fragment of a narrative. Each of the 170 artworks was personally chosen by me and became part of the collection because of the story or association I discovered within its abstract forms. The artworks are conceived as tiny stories from our lives, captured through algorithmic abstraction. Each composition acts like a film still: an intentionally cropped fragment of a larger scene. The elements are not always perfectly staged within the frame. Some are shifted, concentrated in one area, or deliberately cut off, creating a sense of movement and suggesting that something continues beyond what we can see. Each artwork includes four traits: Grid: Clean, Balanced, or Rich Defines the structure and complexity of the grid composition, including the number of sections and divisions and its overall visual density. Legs: Numeric value Indicates the number of abstract legs within the selected output. Leg Body Colors: Numeric value Indicates the number of distinct colors used for the leg bodies within the selected output. Artist Note: Personal association Provides my personal note describing the visual association, impression, or idea that influenced my selection of the output. Every artwork has a unique number used as its title. The Artist Note does not define the only possible meaning of the work. It offers my own perspective while leaving space for every viewer to discover a different movement, situation, or story within the same abstract forms.
