La Poderosa Ixchel

Honoring Ixchel, the moon goddess from ancient Mayan mythology; ruler of the moon, fertility, childbirth, healing, creation and destruction. Ixchel's dual nature reflects the heroic balance between creation and chaos, embodying the cyclical forces that govern the moon, but also life and death on earth and in the cosmos. La Poderosa Ixchel was an early heroine to many ancient Mayan people, and like most heroes also becomes a symbol of transformative power who reshapes the world through both tenderness and upheaval when it requires it. She reminds us to honor the duality of our own being like we honor the cycles of the moon and the stars. This artwork has been curated in the "Heroic Visions" exhibition at the Gates Hotel in South Beach Miami July 2025, with 10% of proceeds going to One Love DAO.
