Golden Lady (of 5th Ave.), Warbux Edition is the marriage of “Golden Lady” (photographed on 5th Avenue in NYC just after the USA's 2024 Election) with the modern violence seen, in this case, from the current Israel – Gaza conflict. In the artwork, “Golden Lady” flaunts her luxurious jewelry – as the original does – but even more carelessly, seemingly oblivious to the destruction behind her; she seems not to have a care at all for it. In contemplation, however, we discover that perhaps there is a connection between the displayed wealth and the all-encompassing destruction of warfare that is around and behind our main character. A question forms: is “Golden Lady” perhaps benefiting in some unclear way from this gross display of oppression and death? Is she not so unattached as she appears detached? What relationship does wealth have with warfare? Perhaps one answer to this is within the classic American musical, Annie, the name of whose character - Daddy Warbucks - provides inspiration for the artwork's title. Btw the blue 'blotches' seen in a few places are a reminder that “Golden Lady” began as a simple photograph on the streets of NYC and are reflections (literally) of the activities there. 56 for 0.0056E because that's where you can see “Golden Lady” - 5th Ave and 56th St. outside of the Chanel store - while the display is up.
