Glitch People.

Glitch People.

Glitch People. Every character is a deliberate coincidence between rows of numbers and sinusoidal waves, a face begins to take shape because mathematics allowed it to emerge and stands on the border of system and beauty, balancing measured randomness with an uncalculable aesthetic. Glitch People is a code-based generative artwork that born from layers of randomized code. Each artwork originates from a unique seed number, growing into an entity that has never existed before and may never appear again in the exact same arrangement. Built on a strict 32×32 grid of sharp 20×20 pixel block sizes, the imagery relies entirely on geometric precision. It is a tribute to the pixel art tradition: beauty born from chosen limitations. The visual and behavioral architecture of each portrait relies on ten independent, overlapping asset categories. These components range from background geometric patterns and body archetypes to head shapes, intricate facial features, and distinct color palettes. Subtle variations, like the tilt of the eyes or a minimalist mouth, drastically alter the character's expression, stacking sequentially to compile a complete portrait from hundreds of possibilities. Color operates as a soul within this framework. The palettes define the mood and temperament of each character, meaning the exact same asset configuration rendered in two different palettes results in two completely distinct entities, identical in structure but opposite in spirit. Furthermore, these portraits are defined by continuous, non-repeating movement. Multiple animation tracks run simultaneously at varying, mismatched speeds. Because these timing cycles are mathematically designed to never align perfectly, the overall pattern is aperiodic. The animation will virtually never repeat the exact same sequence within our lifetime. The artwork is preserved in two permanent formats to ensure its longevity. It exists as a lightweight, loopable GIF optimized for social media that retains the exact animation speed and character details. Alternatively, it lives as a standalone, self-contained HTML file carrying the entire character data and animation code. Requiring no external servers or internet, this format runs forever on any browser as a true digital collectible. To honor the spirit of the digital commons, the entire collection is dedicated to the public domain under a CC0 license. This means the visual identities, code structures, and assets are completely free from copyright restrictions. Anyone can adapt, build upon, or remix the artwork for any purpose, commercial or personal, without needing permission. Each character possesses a five-digit seed number that serves as its genetic identity. From this exact seed, the same character will always be reborn, turning randomness into a verifiable uniqueness. A cryptographic hash accompanies each character alongside its recorded attributes, creating a digital identity far more specific than mere visual appearance. Glitch People exists purely because of computers, relying on loops, sine functions, and seed numbers spinning in the silence of a processor. Yet beneath the code, these characters feel genuinely present. They stare back and hold a meaningful silence. True beauty here is found in the moment when a sequence of machine instructions begins to look as though it possesses a soul. Every character unique. Every animation non-repeating. Every form, once.
