Light, Life & Memory
From the swamp
Fromw the Swamp
Flamingos have always been fascinating to me. I am drawn to their beauty, but I am also deeply saddened by the loss of their natural habitats and the many flamingos that disappear each year.
In this painting, I have placed blue flamingos within a swamp. The swamp is not only a natural environment; it is also a metaphor for the world we live in—a world where we continue to live alongside our fears, losses, struggles, and moments of despair.
The three bright water lilies rising from the darkness symbolize light and hope. A water lily grows from dark, muddy water, yet emerges with beauty and light. For me, they represent the possibility that we, too, can rise from the depths of difficult moments, find our light again, and transform the environment around us.
This painting is both a tribute to flamingos and their threatened habitats, and a reflection on humanity. Sometimes we find ourselves living in our own swamps of despair, but there is always the possibility of choosing light, choosing life, and creating change.
