Conversations between Natures's Memory

Conversations Between Nature's Memory

Conversations between Nature's Memory stages a quiet encounter with systems that sustain life without spectacle. Two simulated ecosystems unfold simultaneously, one above soil and one below, each rendered through a distinct visual language, yet both driven by a shared mycelium-inspired logic of growth, branching, fusion, decay, and redistribution. The seam between the screens functions as the soil line: a boundary that is also a site of exchange. Within this system, nutrient flow becomes the work's central language. Transfers of energy and material reshape pathways, strengthen corridors, and redirect growth, making visible a continuous relation between what lies above and what remains hidden below. Mammadov frames this circulation as a form of conversation, not as literal dialogue, but as mutual adjustment, responsiveness, and support across interdependent environments. An AI observes these exchanges and translates them into shifting textual fragments, forming an evolving register of care, seasons, and memory. The translation remains intentionally partial, preserving ambiguity and resisting any definitive transcription of nonhuman language. In the context of As Above, So Below, the work proposes interdependence as both structure and condition: a reminder that the visible world is sustained by forms of communication that often remain unseen.
