Whispers of Lore
ARD SOLEH KON
Ard Soleh Kon is a child frightening folkloric figure from the local traditions of Marvdasht and Arsanjan
in Fars Province. The name is closely tied to the traditional making of Soleh, a local bread prepared in
these regions. Women who prepared the flour for Soleh would often carry their children on their backs
while working. This familiar image became the foundation of the legend. Adults used the name Ard
Soleh Kon to frighten restless children and encourage them to sleep or remain quiet. A well known
phrase associated with the story was: "Ard Soleh Kon, carry the child, come and take them away."
