The alarm went off at 2:45 am and honestly, I nearly rolled over and went back to sleep. But then I remembered why I set it, the planets were lining up and I had to get moving. I threw some clothes on, jumped in the car, and grabbed a quick Macca’s coffee for the drive. About 45 minutes later I was out at the dry lake I’d scouted the day before. Walking across the cracked ground in the moonlight, I could see the dead tree as I approached it, standing there like an old sentinel. Above it, the alignment was already in full swing with Saturn, Mars, Venus, and Jupiter in a perfect line. They just had to rise a little more before everything lined up how I wanted it in frame. I set the tripod down and got to work. Each of those planets has carried stories for thousands of years, from gods and warriors to ancestors and spirits. And here they were, all together for one fleeting night. Click each star to see the gods that were overlooking me that night.
