Detours (editions)
3rd Floor
It was one of those hotels that drew you in. The decor, the vibe. The people responsible for adorning the walls with art did so with intention. They displayed art. Real art. Not hotel art (though I guess any art hanging in a hotel is hotel art). Some was interesting, some was less than interesting. With my overstuffed backpack and weekender bag over my shoulder, I struggled to press the button for the 3rd floor. I got it, but nothing. Once more. I dropped the bag to the floor realizing I needed my room key to activate the elevator. Not frustrated, but ready to unload my stuff and flop onto the bed. It had been a long day. The doors to the elevator slid open and she greeted me. Reverie #1. An image taken over 15 years ago, now a 5 foot by 6 foot resin covered print on a wood panel. Eyes closed, not asleep. She had a story to tell.
